Second Annual Dinner

June is fast approaching, and with it the 2nd annual Fellowcraft Club Fundraiser Dinner. Planning has begun, and it should be at least as great an evening as it was last. Details will come with the next newsletter. A tentative date is set for June 9th, but may be subject to change. Next month’s newsletter will have a firm date, time and location. The Charles “Slim” Matie Fellowcraft Club has been active all year, and has made a noticeable impact on new brothers, for whom club meetings were an important opportunity to learn their degree materials in a social and informal setting. As a reminder, we meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7pm, at the Lodge building.

Fellowcraft Club Update

The CSMFC has been meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month for the purpose of helping our newly initiated and passed brothers achieve the rank of Master Mason. We meet at the Lodge at 7, and depending on turnout, either order pizza and pick up drinks or go out to a local bar or restaurant. If you have any questions about the club just give me a call or shoot me an email at webmaster@amherst981.org. We will also be coordinating the drama of the 3rd degree for the first time. Brothers who have participated in recent years should expect to be asked to participate again. Any brother interested in participating please let me know.

Brother Konrad Kenn receives the first CSM Fellowcraft Club “Pear” award.

Awarded for conspicious gallantry and intrepedity at the risk of grave injury above and beyond the call of duty, in action to benefit the club by way of the preparation of a canopy to protect his comrades from the rain that might have fallen during the party he had so generously offered to host. Konrad was witnessed cutting 2×4′s to support the canopy with a jigsaw while in his boxer shorts. Brother Konrad’s extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the fraternity and reflect great credit upon himself, the CSM Fellowcraft Club, Amherst Lodge and the Craft.

The Pear Award was established to reward a club member who acted like he “had a pair”.

Amherst Lodge’s Fellowcraft Club gets a new name and other business

After some discussion it was determined at the first official meeting of the new Fellowcraft Club that we should be named in honor of Right Worshipful Charles “Slim” Matie. As of the passage of the motion, the Fellowcraft Club was renamed the Charles “Slim” Matie Fellowcraft Club.

The club also decided on its official meeting time and location. The CSM Fellowcraft Club will meet in the evening on the second Thursday of each month.

An election date was also set. Elections will be held for the officers of the club during our October meeting after Amherst Lodge reopens in the Fall.

Other issues decided at the first meeting included eligibility for membership; it was decided that membership in the club should be open to all initiated members of Amherst Lodge, to include brothers of the 1st and 2nd Degrees.

The last issue discussed was the dues structure, which was a very brief discussion, as we decided that there should be no dues. The success of our initial fundraiser and our lack of expenses proved that dues would not be necessary to fund the club.

Twenty-something people showed up to Konrad’s on Saturday for what turned out to be a great evening of food, fun and fellowship. Pictures will be coming soon. I don’t think I can say enough about the brothers who came and made the evening a success. Thanks to all of you for your support, I look forward to working with all of you to make this a fun and effective fellowcraft club.
